From May 29 to June 5, 2025, one of the most unforgettable natural events takes place in the Smokies: the synchronous fireflies of Elkmont. Just a short drive from our cabin, this magical display draws visitors from all over the world — and for good reason.

Last year, we packed some snacks, grabbed a couple of chairs, and arrived just before sunset. As darkness settled in, the forest slowly began to glow. First a flicker. Then a rhythm. And suddenly — thousands of fireflies blinking together in perfect harmony. ✨ It was like watching stars come alive in the trees.
